Why I Keep Writing

People sometimes ask what keeps me returning to the page.

The honest answer is… it isn’t always momentum.

It isn’t always clarity.
It isn’t even always confidence.

More often, it is a quiet nudge I have learned to recognize over time —
a gentle invitation to sit down,
to listen closely,
and to write what the Lord places on my heart.

There is something sacred about the moment before the first word appears.

The page is still.
The house is quiet.
And somewhere in that stillness is the reminder that these small offerings of words and songs were never meant to begin with me.

They begin with Him.

I keep writing because I have seen what God can do with surrendered fragments.

A single line of truth can steady a weary heart.
A simple song can travel farther than we ever will.
A quiet story can remind someone they are not walking alone.

None of it has to be loud to be meaningful.

Over the years, I have learned that faithfulness in creative work often looks very ordinary from the outside:

Showing up.
Opening the notebook.
Trying again.
Praying over unfinished lines.

But the Lord has always done His most beautiful work through willing hands, not perfect ones.

So I keep writing.

Not because every word comes easily.
Not because every song feels finished when I would like it to.

But because again and again, in the quiet places, He has proven faithful to meet me there.

And if even one small offering becomes light for someone else along the way…
then every quiet hour at the page is worth it.

Still listening, still writing,
